The Indian Express 100 2018 edition lists 100 most powerful Indians from different fields. The 2018 ie100 list was released on Friday with names of 100 most powerful Indians. Asha Gummadi wins Nat Geo Challenge

Indian physiotherapist Dr Asha Gummadi won the National Geographic Chasing Genius Challenge held in the US for her innovative idea . Dr Asha, a graduate in physiotherapy from SVIMS University, Tirupati, hails from Guntur district. She moved to the US to pursue Master of Science in physiotherapy at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, Boston. She graduated with an Advanced Master of Science majoring with Neurological Physiotherapy in 2008. She had been practising in the US since then and for the past seven years. She was associated with Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital, a large acute rehab centre in Greater Philadelphia, as a neurological physiotherapist. National Geographic network had called for innovative ideas that can change the world in their segment chasing genius challenge and Dr Asha Gummadi presented her idea “Empowering tele- rehabilitation with digital connectivity.” Her solution was a web application that helps physiotherapists ...

Sohan Kancherla, Meghana Nadella and Lakshmi Vallabhaneni Named 2018 Coca-Cola Scholars

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation earlier this month announced the 2018 Coke Scholars class, with several Indian American students among the recipients. In total, the foundation named 150 students as 2018 Scholars, with each receiving a $20,000 college scholarship. Among the recipients include Sohan Kancherla (St.Louis – MO), Meghana Nadella (Allen - Texas), and Lakshmi Vallabhaneni (Chandler – AZ) The entire class of Scholars will attend the 2018 Scholars Weekend April 19-22, 2018, for a time of inspiration, fun, and camaraderie. Scholars will be honored at our 30th annual Scholars Banquet and participate in our Leadership Development Institute, an intensive leadership training during Scholars Weekend that challenges them to develop an inside-out leadership philosophy.

The 'Honey Badger' may have been cast as the new Bachelor, but the internet is currently crushing on another eligible guy, who's been dubbed the 'most attractive' man on Australian TV. Anusha Mannam elected as President for Student Government of Loyola Chicago

Anusha Mannam , student government’s current vice president, and Adriana Caballero, were elected as new president and vice president of SGLC (Student Government of Loyola Chicago) , the organization announced Monday. Voting for the SGLC 2018 spring elections took place from March 22-25. Students received an email ballot to vote in the spring elections, as they do each year. Clicking on each candidate’s name allowed students to read the candidates’ mission statements. Anusha Mannam, a junior political science and global and international studies double major, has been a member of SGLC for three years and will begin her presidency on April 3. Mannam defeated candidate David Kwok in the election, a sophomore majoring in economics and finance. Mannam and Caballero will be sworn in at the next Senate meeting on April 3, after which they will begin their administration.

Hasini Nandamuri wins Individual Gold and Doubles Bronze medal in U11 German Masters final

Hasini Nandamuri from SV Fun-Ball Dortelweil won Gold at the U11 German Masters Final in Mühlheim an der Ruhr. At the meeting of the 16 best single players and eight best doubles of the past twelve months, she came in doubles with the Saarlander Mara Hafner in third place and won Bronz . The duos started with two victories in the competition and were able to wrestle a sentence from the top seed double. This was the semifinals reached. There, the Hessian-Saar double lost in two sets, but then could secure in a contested three-set match still on the podium.

Anusha Mannam contensting for the President of Student Government of Loyola Chicago

Junior Anusha Mannam said her experience with representing students will likely give her the edge as she hopes to become the next president of Student Government of Loyola Chicago (SGLC) in the upcoming election. Anusha Mannam , a 21-year-old international studies and political science double major, has served on the University Senate and SGLC during her three years at Loyola and currently serves as a student representative on the Board of Trustees. Anusha, the current SGLC vice president, is running alongside junior Adriana Caballero. “We want to be held accountable and be transparent with what we have been campaigning for and where we’re at,” Mannam said. Mannam said she and Caballero would ensure accountability with a “progress bar” which can be viewed by the student body. Devi Seafoods, Sandhya Marines files IPO papers with SEBI

India's leading seafood exporters, Devi Seafoods and Sandhya Marines, have filed initial public offering papers with the Securities and Exchange Board of India. Devi Seafoods filed its IPO papers on 5 March. It's owners, Potra   Brahmanandam , P. Suryavathi, P. Rama Devi, and N. Naveena, are looking to raise INR 9 billion (USD 138.4 million, EUR 111.9 million) , Livemint reported. The proceeds from the IPO will be used enhance the company’s financial stability, burnish its brand image, and provide liquidity to its existing shareholders. Sandhya Marines , another Indian seafood exporter, is also looking to raise INR 3 billion (USD 46.1 million, EUR 37.3 million) from its own IPO, The Outlook India reported. The company will sell 12.6 million shares owned by Kondragunta  Venkata Prasad , K Suryanarayanamma, K Anand Kumar and K Arun Kumar. Lakshmi Venu tied the knot with tech businessman Mahesh Gogineni , who is from a prominent Andhra family, at a destination wedding in Jodhpur Thursday. Katragadda Aruna wins Maryland 6th district straw poll

Maryland Democrat Aruna Miller Katragadda , who is running for Congress from the state’s open 6th district, won a straw poll held after the “Our Revolution” candidate forum on Saturday. “After a vigorous 3-hour debate involving six candidates, Delegate Miller won the post-debate straw poll,” the campaign said in a press release on Tuesday. Miller, a Maryland statehouse delegate, thanked the party faithful who attended the forum. “It’s exciting to see so many people come out on a Saturday afternoon to hear from candidates running in a Congressional primary,” she said. “It’s even more exciting to see that our message is resonating with these engaged voters.” The campaign also announced reaching the $1 million donations. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Dr. Hiral Tipirneni , an Arizona emergency room physician and cancer research advocate making her first bid for public office, savored victory in the Democratic primary in the state’s 8th Congressional District, besting Brianna Westbrook. Tipirneni will now vie for the vacant seat against Republican former state senator Debbie Lesko in a special election on April 24. Tipirneni defeated Westbrook by 59.6 percent to 40.4 percent or 21,703-14,701 votes. Westbrook, a transgender woman, got involved in politics after pressing for a policy in Arizona that would protect the LGBTQ community from discrimination. Lesko, victor in the GOP primary, beat her closest challenger Phil Lovas by 35.8 percent to 23.9 percent, or 25,508-17,031 votes.
