Vaiko Set To Return To Parliament After 15 Years

A three-time Rajya Sabha member at the time he was with the DMK, Mr Vaiko was elected twice from Sivakasi. His last tenure was from 1999 to 2004. MDMK Chief Pulipati Gopalasamy or Vaiko , one of the  is all set to return to parliament after 15 years. His party today nominated him as its candidate for upcoming elections to the Rajya Sabha. Though the MDMK has no legislators to elect a Rajya Sabha member, it was offered one seat by the DMK as part of their alliance deal for the Lok Sabha polls in which the DMK swept the polls, winning 37 of the 38 seats in Tamil Nadu. Kalanidhi Veerasamy - DMK, son of former minister 'Arcot' N Veerasamy defeated his nearest rival candidate MohanRaj of DMDK by margin over 4,61,000 votes in Chennai North parliament segment. In 2014 T G Venkatesh Babu (Kamma), AIADMK elected from here denied ticket this time.

Ambur by poll DMK candidate A S Vilvanathan wins by 37,088 votes

At the end of the final phase of the vote, DMK candidate A S Vilvanathan is secured 95,504 votes over his nearest AIADMK candidate who secured only 58,416 votes.

K. Damodharasamy Naidu (1926 - 21 November 2006) was freedom fighter and founder and chairman of the Sree Annapoorna Sree Gowrishankar Group born in Peedampalli village near Coimbatore. The Annapoorna chain was started in the early 1960s by K. Dhamodarasamy Naidu as a catering unit in Kennedy movie theater in R. S. Puram, Coimbatore. G.R.Govindarajulu, a pioneer par excellence in education, trade, and charity

Govindaswamy Rangaswamy Govindarajulu (1919 - 1986) was born as the fourth child of Krishnammal and the Diwan Bahadur P.S.G.Rangaswamy Naidu in Peelamedu.  His siblings were Lakshmi Ammal, Dr.G.R.Damodaran, Rukmani Ammal, G.R.Venkatesalu and G.R.Varatharajan. The dawn of the Vijayanagar Empire in the year 1336 ushered in a lot of migrations all over the south. A large number of Telugu and Kannada speaking people migrated to the Tamil speaking parts of the country. The brothers who contributed substantially to the industrialisation of Coimbatore are G.K. Devarajulu and G.K. Sundaram . The sons of cotton merchant G.Kuppusamy Naidu, who also had a ginning unit, both evinced immense capability. Devarajulu, born in 1911, was a man with appetite for risks.     He set up the Lakshmi Mills at the age of just 21. As the machinery for the cotton units were imported from Europe under the impression that those from Japan were substandard, Devarajulu visited the factory in Japan to study whether the machinery would suit Indian requirements. R. Venkatasamy Naidu (Royalty Never Dies): First generation Industrialist

R. Venkataswamy Naidu was popularly known as RVS and he reigned supreme in the world of business for much of his life. RVS was born to the smart agriculturist turned entrepreneur V. Rangaswamy Naidu of Peelamedu and the lady with a golden touch Chinnammal on May 12, 1910. Peelamedu was the home to a number of black cotton farmers who had the gumption to take risks and therefore a number of them ventured into industry.
