The majority of Americans probably haven’t heard of   Jacobin   magazine, but the leading leftist publication holds great political influence among the growing progressive sect of the Democratic Party. The publication, which examines current events and culture from a socialist slant, has a current print run of 60,000 subscribers per issue and about 2 million website views per month. The magazine’s popularity is no accident: Its trajectory has grown alongside the Democratic Socialist movement, ushered in by celebrity politicians like senator Bernie Sanders and congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, but founder and publisher, Bhaskar Sunkara , has been honing the look and editorial direction since its launch in 2010. Stayflexi raises $1.6m in seed round funding

California-based hotel and  vacation rental software startup , Stayflexi, has announced that it has raised $1.6 million in a seed funding round. The proptech SaaS startup, which claims to already be profitable in more than 100 cities around the world, has received investment from Y Combinator, as well as the likes of Agya Ventures, BlueField Capital, Asymmetry Ventures, Good New Ventures, and a number of unnamed individuals. Founded in 2018 by Venkatesh Sakamuri, Stayflexi automates check-in, check-out and other interactions with guests to create the most customised services possible, in both vacation rental properties and boutique hotels. The company’s proprietary software is designed to automatically establish up-selling opportunities for property owners and managers, including room reservations, hands-free check-ins and contact-free payments. Outplay gets $7.3-million Series A funding from Sequoia India

Bengaluru:   Outplay  has raised $7.3 million from Sequoia Capital India in its Series A round, as the sales engagement platform looks to ride the tailwind of digitisation of outbound sales due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Founded in 2018 and launched in the subsequent year by twin brothers Ram and Laxman Papineni, Outplay helps automate and personalise sales calls and brings conversations from multiple channels such as email, phone, SMS, LinkedIn, Twitter and chat into a single interface. “Outbound sales teams are truly the dark horse of the sales organisation—the targets are high, but the methods aren’t scientific,” Outplay’s chief executive officer  Laxman Papineni  said. “Outplay is committed to making outbound outreach data-driven, so that sales teams are talking only to the warmest prospects at any given point across multiple channels, optimising time and resources.” The startup has seen its revenue grow four times and team size treble in the four months since  it raised $2 million

AI startup Blaize raises $71 million

  Artificial intelligence computing company Blaize Inc has raised $71 million from investors including Temasek and Franklin Templeton, according to people familiar with the matter. The El Dorado Hills, California-based company is also in early-stage talks with special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs) about a potential deal that would take it public, the sources added. Blaize previously raised $65 million in 2018, at a valuation of about $370 million from investors including Denso, Temasek, GGV Capital, and Daimler. The new series D round of funding will be primarily used to scale out the business and products development. Details on Blaize's latest valuation were not immediately available. Blaize offers computing solutions in automotive, mobility, smart retail, security, industrial and metro market sectors. Since 2013, Divi’s wealth has increased nearly seven times. He’s worth $9.3 billion as of July this year, according to Forbes. This Indian scientist-turned drugmaker tripled his wealth to $9 billion during coronavirus pandemic The 70 -year-old owner of Divi Laboratories, Murali Divi, is a US-trained scientist who returned to India after he got the opportunity to get on board as a partner in Dr Reddy’s Lab back in 1984. Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL Technologies Ltd, and its chief strategy officer, has tendered his resignation as managing director , as well as a director, with effect from 19 July, on completing 76 years of age. Nadar will, however, continue to guide the company in the capacity of chairman emeritus and strategic adviser to the board for five years, the company said. Bandi C. Vijayakumar , president and chief executive officer, has been appointed as the managing director for five years.  He is currently the Chairman of World Economic Forum's IT Governor's Community as well as a Board Member of the US-India Business Council. Lawson Naidoo elected chairperson of Cricket South Africa

Lawson Naidoo has been elected the new chair of Cricket South Africa (CSA)  at the first meeting of the new board. These elections complete the process outlined in the Memorandum of Incorporation (MoI) that  the CSA established under  the minister-appointed interim board. One of the key factors was in ensuring good governance through a majority independent board with an independent chairperson. Naidoo is the executive secretary of the Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution (CASAC) and a founding partner of the Paternoster Group, a political risk consultancy. Budlender is an advocate. "I thank my fellow Board members for the confidence they have shown in electing me as chairperson," Naidoo said. "We are all well aware of the challenges facing us in making CSA a world-class sporting organization both on and off the field of play."

Alapati Tataiya - The inspirational leader behind the founding of The National Federation Party - Fiji

National Federation Party - Fiji that started as the Citizens Federation in 1963, is 58 years old in 2021. The roots of The National Federation Party under which the idea of the party was first mooted in Rakiraki by Alapati Kamma Tataiya born under the shady mango tree of Vaileka, Rakiraki, bearing witness to what evolved into an indestructible political force and the South Pacific’s oldest political party. ALAPATI TATAIYA - who came to Fiji in 1890 as an indentured Labourer from Tenali, the Madras Presidency (now Andhra Pradesh) and settled in Qalau, Rakiraki. Tollywood hero  Venkatesh Daggubati’s daughter Aashritha Daggubati has made the news in the Telugu media as she made it to the 2021 edition of the Instagram rich list. She has reportedly ranked 377th worldwide and 27th in Asia according to Hooper.com. Aashritha now resides in Barcelona after her marriage. Her company, Infinity Platter, is at the forefront of the culinary industry. Hopper.com had recently announced the Instagram richlist. Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has topped the list. The richlist has the names of the world’s highest-earning celebrities. Interestingly, the list found the names of three Indians. Sirisha Bandla the second Indian woman to go into Space

Tenali, AP born Sirisha Bandla, is going to space on July 11th. She will be the first Telugu origin person in space, the second Indian born woman in space.  For the record, the first (and only) Indian citizen in space is Rakesh Sharma. The first Indian born woman in space is Kalpana Chawla. Sunita Willams, another astronaut is an American born Indian.  Her father Muralidhar Bandla, an agriculture scientist, migrated to the USA for higher alternatives after she was born right here.
