Every time Megha Ganne teed it up in an American Junior Golf Association event in 2021, she contended. For those in the know, it came as no surprise that she also contended in one of women’s golf biggest events – the U.S. Women’s Open. Ganne was hardly an unknown entering the year, having qualified for the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals four times and advanced to the semifinals at the 2018 U.S. Women’s Amateur. But she took her game to a new level this season, especially on the junior circuit. She played in five events recognized by the Rolex AJGA Rankings without ever finishing outside the top four and has been named the AJGA’s Rolex Player of the Year. Nick Cherukuri Forbes released its ninth annual “30 Under 30” list, featuring the latest class of 600 young entrepreneurs, risk-takers and game changers who are redefining what it means to innovate and lead.  The Forbes 30 Under 30 list Class of 2020 includes 30 honorees for each of the 20 categories. President Cyril Ramaphosa has reappointed Kuben Naidoo as deputy governor of the SA Reserve Bank. He will serve a second term.  Naidoo is one of three deputy governors of the Reserve Bank, who work alongside Governor Lesetja Kganyago in the executive management of the bank. They also are part of the Monetary Policy Committee which makes monetary policy decisions, such as the repo rate. The president appoints the governor and deputy governors after consultations with the finance minister and directors of the SA Reserve Bank's board. "The South African Reserve Bank welcomes the re-appointment of Mr Kuben Naidoo by President Cyril Ramaphosa as one of the three Deputy Governors of the SARB for a second term of five years. Niroop Vallabhaneni is a six-foot, blue chip recruit from Paradise Valley, Ariz. At the age of 16, he was ranked 150th by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and claimed a doubles title at the USTA 16s National Championship in Kalamazoo. Vallabhaneni was a U.S. Open participant in 2018 and ranked as high as fourth in the 2019 recruiting class. Can you spell history? The 92nd Scripps National Spelling Bee had an epic ending with eight co-champions. The spelling bee was stopped after it went 20 rounds, which included a run of 47 correct words to end the competition. The decision was made after round 17, when it was decided that while there were plenty of words left in the dictionary, there were only enough challenging words for three final rounds. The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars selects students based on their academic success, artistic and technical excellence, essays, school evaluations, transcripts, and evidence of community service, leadership and demonstrated commitment to high ideals. Created in 1964, the Presidential Scholars Program has honored more than 7,500 of the nation’s top-performing students. The University of Vermont’s Board of Trustees has appointed Suresh Garimella as the university’s 27th president. Garimella, currently executive vice president for Research and Partnerships and the Goodson Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University, will begin his new role effective July 1. As Purdue’s executive vice president, Garimella oversees Discovery Park, “a unique set of facilities and institutes, where disciplines converge to solve global challenges related to health and life sciences, sustainability, food, energy and defense and security,” according to a university press release.
