Minister for Animal Husbandry, TKM Chinnaiah (Born 05/Feb/1962) is a member of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and held the post of Chairman of Tambaram Municipality in 2001. He is elected as the Member of Legislative Assembly from Tambaram Constituency in May 2011. He was sworn in as the minsiter for Sports and Youth Welfare, Environment and Pollution Control and Wakfs after winning the elections.
Born and brought up in East Tambaram, T.K.M.Chinnaiah lives in a modest house on Bharatha Matha Street opposite Jaigopal Garodia National Higher Secondary School, Bishop Heber Hall. The family runs a flour mill. He contested once successfully for the post of Chairman of Tambaram Municipality in 2001. He got elected as councillor five years later.
This is the first time in 25 years that a member of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is representing Tambaram in the Assembly. This is also the first time since Tambaram Assembly Constituency was created in 1977, that its MLA has been made as a Minister. Munu Adhi (Kamma), also from the same party was Assembly Speaker from 1977 to 1980 and Mr. Chinnaiah, incidentally is related to him.
T.K.M Chinnaiah, an alumnus of Madras Christian college. He did his PUC in MCC during the years 1976-77.
