Shri S.R. Balasubramanyam born on 14 November 1938 in Sultanpet, Distt. Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) to S hri Ramabadra Naidu and Shrimati Rukmani Ammal. He did his B.A. (Hons.), B.L., M.A. Educated at Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai, Madras Law College and University of Madras, Chennai He was Member, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly 1989 - 91, 1991 - 96 and 2001 - 06 from Pongalur - Coimbatore, Leader, Congress Legislature Party and Leader of Opposition, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly 1991 -96, Member, Eleventh Lok Sabha from Nilgiris constituancy, Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Parliamentary Affairs 1996 - 98, June 1996- April 1997 and May 1997- March 1998, Leader, Tamil Maanila Congress Legislature Party 2001 - 02, Leader, Congress Legislature Party 2002 - 06. In June 2016 he was Elected to Rajya Sabha and June 2016 onwards he was the Deputy Leader, AIADMK Party in Rajya Sabha.
