Eighth grader Srinidhi Muppalla was named Top Speaker in the Nation, at the 2009 USA Middle School National Debate Championship which was also a first for Howard County. He scored 149 out of a possible 150 points to win the title. Srinidhi Muppalla and Niran Lakhanpal team tied for third place in 2009 Middle School National Debate Championship.
