Indian luxury wear brand Mishru by Swapna Anumolu is banking on its unique designs to drive growth as it looks to tap into the growing bridal and ethnic wear market in India. Swapna launched 'Mishru' a traditional clothing label that represents spirited sophistication, elegance and individualism. Her Indo-western, bridal and ready to wear collections are a beautiful mix of traditional clothing with a modern twist. Mishru is for the contemporary woman who is fun, polished and effortlessly stylish. Swapna seeks inspiration from her travels and Indian heritage, architecture and fabrics and strives to reinvent the classics. Her collections include bright colours, unique prints and exquisite embroidery.

The Hyderabad based label is targeting the country’s free-spirited women, which forms the core of the brand’s loyal customer base.

Mishru, which started with a small design studio in Hyderabad, has managed to quickly spread its wings and build a strong customer base across leading metros in the country over a short span of time. The brand is looking to make further inroads in the luxury market by offering something different to stand out from the labels.

The brand is currently available at various multi-designer stores across the country like Aza (Mumbai and Delhi), Collage (Bangalore), Evoluzione (Chennai), Ensemble (Mumbai), Ashni + Co (London) among many others.

A road named after Veerasamy Naidu in Singapore

Veerasamy Road - Little India/ Singapore Veerasamy Road was renamed twice in its history; it was originally called Inche Lane, and was renamed Jalan Tambah in 1910. In 1927, the road was renamed again as Veerasamy Road, in honour of Dr N. Veerasamy Naidu (1865-1926), one of Singapore’s first Indian doctors and a leader in the local Indian community. Dr N Veerasamy Naidu was born in 1864. He was the son of Narayanasamy Naidu and Ramanuja Ammal. He learned Tamil from the age of four from his grandfather, Kuppusamy Naidu. He studied English at the Raffles School in Singapore and first worked at the lawyer’s office of Mr Cook.
