Dr Madineni Venkat Ratnam won prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar award

Dr Madineni Venkat Ratnam of the National Atmospheric Research Laboratory, Tirupati won the prize under the Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary Sciences category.

Madineni Venkata Ratnam, was born on January 21, 1973 in Armoor, Nizamabad Dt, India. Son of Madineni Ramayya and Madineni Aademma.

Education: Bachelor of Science, Giriraj Goverment degree college, Nizamabad, 1994. Master of Science, Osmania University, Hyderabad, 1997. Doctor of Philosophy, Sri Venkateshwara University, Tirupati, India, 2001.

Career: Post doctoral fellow Department of Physics, National central University, Chung-Li, Taiwan, 2001—2002. Scientist Institute for Meteorology, University Leipzig, Leipzig, Germany, 2002—2003. Japan society for promotion of science fellow RISH, Kyoto University, Uji, Japan, since 2003.

A road named after Veerasamy Naidu in Singapore

Veerasamy Road - Little India/ Singapore Veerasamy Road was renamed twice in its history; it was originally called Inche Lane, and was renamed Jalan Tambah in 1910. In 1927, the road was renamed again as Veerasamy Road, in honour of Dr N. Veerasamy Naidu (1865-1926), one of Singapore’s first Indian doctors and a leader in the local Indian community. Dr N Veerasamy Naidu was born in 1864. He was the son of Narayanasamy Naidu and Ramanuja Ammal. He learned Tamil from the age of four from his grandfather, Kuppusamy Naidu. Suresh Chukkapalli made S Korea’s Honorary Consulate General

Hyderabad: Suresh Chukkapalli, Chairman of Phoenix Group, has been appointed as the Honorary Consul General in Hyderabad. Republic of Korea has appointed Suresh with consular jurisdiction over Telangana state, according to a release. The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, has notified the same in Gazette notification dated October 25. Suresh Chukkapalli will be given charge formally on November 1 at a ceremony scheduled in New Delhi. South Korea is the fourth largest economy in Asia and the eleventh largest in the world known for its economic miracles. Responding to his new responsibility, Suresh said “the honour is bestowed at a time when Koreans are trying to improve their presence in Telangana. Hyderabad will soon have a full-fledged Honorary Consulate General Office of Republic of Korea.”
