Jahnavi Muppaneni of The Woodlands was named Miss Teen Texas International 2014 at the Texas International Pageant, held March 16, at the Granville Arts Center in Dallas.
Muppaneni is a senior at The Woodlands College Park High School. She competed against other teens from across the state in interview, fitness wear, evening gown and fun fashion competitions. Muppaneni’s platform is “Salute to Veterans” and she speaks out about the need for more assistance for veterans with issues such as homelessness, employment and medical care.
“Jahnavi is a shining example of what the Texas International system is all about,” said Rachel Hedstrom, executive director of the Texas International system. “She is articulate, intelligent, passionate about her cause, and she uses that excitement to make a difference in the world around her. We are so proud of Jahnavi, and the state of Texas should be, as well!”
The International System was established more than 20 years ago to adhere to a higher standard than other systems. Texas International seeks more than a pretty face: winners have beauty and depth, and are committed to their communities. The emphasis is on healthy lifestyle choices in accordance with the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign, with which the pageant system holds a national alliance.
