KRSMA Estates, founded by Krishna Prasad and Uma Chigurupati, Managing Directors of the Rs 1,600 crore Hyderabad-based Granules India, entered into the Indian wine market with the launch of its first range of super-premium boutique wines.
KRSMA wines is one which was introduced earlier this year with a vision to appeal to the global palate. With the launch of super premium boutique wines including Sauvignon Blanc 2012, Chardonnay 2013, Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 and Sangiovese 2012 KRSMA wines is sure to make a mark on wine lovers.
KRSMA Estates is the brainchild of entrepreneur couple Krishna Prasad and Uma Chirugupati. Both of them are run enthusiasts and have run various marathons including the ones in Antarctica and North Pole. It is during the travels of the couple across the global vineyards for wine tasting that they increased the desire to bring global standards of wines to India. Selecting to grow their vineyards in the backdrop of Hampi, the world heritage site, they are exploring the hot and dry climate with iron rich schist type soil to make a mark on the world map.
KRSMA makes single varietal wines which are hand crafted from vineyards to winery making only limited number of bottles per year. The couple take personal interest in producing wines, deciding the time of harvest of grapes to the yeast used to selecting the barrels to age the wine.
KRSMA Estates' wines are made from the best grapes from each harvest, ensuring only the best wines are produced. This fact is acknowledged by the numerous awards the wines have won. The Chardonnay of 2013, Cabernet Sauvignon of 2012 and the Sauvignon Blanc of 2013 have won the double gold, gold and silver medals respectively, at the China Wine and Spirits Awards 2013. The Sauvignon Blanc of 2012 won the bronze medal at the New Zealand International Wine Show 2012, while the Chardonnay was commended at the International Wine Challenge 2014.
