View, a Milpitas, Calif.-based manufacturer of architectural dynamic glass that adjusts in response to external conditions and user preferences, has received a $100 million investment from Madrone Capital Partners.
“This investment from one of the premier private equity firms signals a huge leap forward for View,” said View CEO Rao Mulpuri. “As our project pipeline continues to grow, this investment will enable us to accelerate our growth, expand our market presence and continue to serve our broadening customer base.” Since launching in November 2012, View has installed more than 50 projects at college and corporate campuses, government buildings, hotels and hospitals in North America. View’s “Dynamic Glass” also significantly reduces energy usage.
In a typical dynamic glass commercial installation, annual HVAC and lighting energy consumption is reduced by 20% while HVAC peak load is reduced by 25%. Mulpuri formerly held executive posts at Novellus Systems, most recently president, Novellus Systems Japan, and VP and general manager, of its integrated metals business unit. He has a B.E. in mechanical engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology an M.S. in manufacturing engineering and Ph.D. in materials engineering degrees from Boston University.
