Chennai July 28, 2012: Second seeded Saketh Myneni of Hyderabad won the Indian Oil Servo Men's ITF Futures tennis championship, beating fourth seed Suk-YunJeong of Korea 6-3 2-6 6-4 in the singles final here today.
In the 2 hour and 15 minute encounter, Saketh broke Jeong in the fourth game of the first set and maintained the tempo right through.
The second set was a different story as Saketh suddenly lost concentration to trail 0-5 before holding his serve to reduce the lead to 2-5.
Jeong then played a resolute game to close out the set. After taking a toilet break, Saketh straightaway broke Jeong's serve in the very first game of the decisive third set.
Saketh's percentage of effective first serves improved and he kept his domination, breaking Jeong again to lead 5-2.
This was Saketh's second title here.
"I am thrilled to win in Chennai once again. I am working on improving my fitness to enable me to do well in higher level of tournaments in the future.
"I am extremely grateful to my parents, my coach Mr C V Nagraj and rest of the coaching team in making it possible for me to get so far," Saketh said.
Saketh was richer by USD 1300 and 18 ATP points
