Paturi Rajagopala Naidu , better known as Rajanna (7 November 1900– 9 June 1995), was an Indian freedom fighter, parliamentarian, and kisan (farmer) leader. He was an exponent of the peasant philosophy, and considered the father of the Indian Peasant Movement after Swami Sahajanand Saraswati. Raja gopala Naidu was born in Diguvamagham village in chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh. He went to school in his native village, and graduated from the Andhra-Christian College, Guntur. He received a B.Litt. in Economics from the University of Oxford in 1926. On his return to India, he took up teaching as Professor of Economics at Pachaiyappa's College, Madras (Chennai). Rajagopala Naidu joined the freedom movement inspired by Gandhi's clarion call in 1930. He led the ryot agitation in 1933. Jermuk, Armenia:   Koneru Humpy of India signed off in style with an exciting win over Ju Wenjun of China in the 11th and last round of the FIDE Women's Grand Prix chess tournament at Jermuk on Saturday. Humpy finished with 6.5 points and got a share of the second place in a three-way tie as Chinese trio Wenjun, Hou Yifan and Lufei Ruan lost their last-round games in a dramatic finish. Yifan could still hold on to her first place as she had reached seven points in the penultimate round itself while Humpy, Kateryna Lahno of Ukraine and Nadezhda Kosintseva of Russia won their last games and got into a tie for the second place. Lahno and Nadezhda had better tiebreak scores but Humpy's recovery from two losses in the second half earned her a better finish. Humpy played a remarkable game with black against Ju Wenjun, who had led the field till the homestretch. Chennai July 28, 2012: Second seeded Saketh Myneni of Hyderabad won the Indian Oil Servo Men's ITF Futures tennis championship, beating fourth seed Suk-YunJeong of Korea 6-3 2-6 6-4 in the singles final here today. In the 2 hour and 15 minute encounter, Saketh broke Jeong in the fourth game of the first set and maintained the tempo right through. The second set was a different story as Saketh suddenly lost concentration to trail 0-5 before holding his serve to reduce the lead to 2-5. Jeong then played a resolute game to close out the set. After taking a toilet break, Saketh straightaway broke Jeong's serve in the very first game of the decisive third set. Saketh's percentage of effective first serves improved and he kept his domination, breaking Jeong again to lead 5-2. At this stage, Saketh faltered again as Jeong broke back with punishing ground strokes. But at 5-4, Saket held his serve to win the set and the title. This was Saketh's second title here. ...

Chennai, July 27, 2012: Second seed Saket Myneni of Andhra Pradesh stormed into the final, beating eighth seed Karunuday Singh 6-1 6-3 in Indian Oil Servo Men's Futures tournament at the SDAT Tennis Stadium here today. Saket, who rose to a 5-0 lead in the first set, will take on Suk-Young Jeong of Korea in the final. Jeong defeated compatriot Hyun-Woo Nam 6-4 6-4 in the second semi-final. In a closely-contested doubles final, Thai pair of Weerapat Doakmaiklee and Perakiat Siriluethaiwattana overcame Indian combo of Saket Myneni and Arun-Prakash Rajagopalan in a Super tiebreak.

Kamineni Eswara Rao  was born on  August 26, 1918 in Bhatlapenamarru, Krishna, Andhra Pradesh, The India's own `powerhouse' Kamineni Eswara Rao who took part in the 1952, 1956 (11th place) Olympics . Widely acknowledged for redefining the skills in the sport at the highest level, Eswara Rao was known in the circles as one who defied the book and scripted his own fabulous feats. He was adjudged `strongest man of India' in the 1954 Senior Nationals in Delhi in the 90 kg category and also won the "Strongest man of India" title, at one stage held as many as 25 national records. For the record he was the first weightlifter to win a silver medal in the inaugural Asian Games and also the Mr. Universe title winner in London. Mutakki Priyanka, a student of Mustabada Chess Educational Academy, hauled seven points out of nine to emerge winner. Nutakki Priyanka, a 10-year-old chess player, made the Indian chess fraternity proud by winning the Asian under-10 girls’ title, her first major title, in the Asian Youth Chess Championship that concluded at Hikkaduwa in Sri Lanka on 1st July. Priyanka, a student of Mustabada Chess Educational Academy, hauled seven points out of nine to emerge winner and later she helped India win the team gold by garnering 19.5 points along with C. Kolli Mihir Sai, the grand-son of former director-general of police V. Appa Rao and son of Dr. Kolli Rajasekhar and Dr. Sailaja from Hyderabad, has won one Gold medal and one Bronze Medal in the 10 to 12 years age group, in jumping high kick, skipping side kick, turning back kick, spinning hook kick and power breaking in the Annual United States Open Taekwondo Championship 2012 held at Colorado Springs City of US last week. Mihir is 10 years old, studying 5th class in Honolulu, Hawaii and already a Black Belt in Taekwondo. 1300 competitors of different age groups from all over the world competed. Mihir is studying at the same school in Honolulu where US President Barack Obama studied.
