The Hyderabad-based Global Hospitals Group (Ravindranath Kancherla, Chairman), one of the fastest growing super specialty care and multi-organ transplantation hospitals in India, is lined up to open three new hospitals in Mumbai, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar respectively by April next year. It is also planning to open one in Delhi.
In a major expansion move in its 12-year old history, the group, which already has its presence in Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore, will make a total investment of Rs.700 crore in the upcoming hospitals in Bhubaneswar Mumbai and Kolkata. The Mumbai facility will have a bed capacity of 400 beds, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata 300 each. Currently the group has a bed capacity if 1700 beds with three major healthcare hubs and nine satellite facilities. All the upcoming facilities will have a special focus on organ transplantation. It will also have facilities for latest technologies such as stem cell therapy. At present the group has strength of total 500 doctors in the existing hospitals in Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
Dr Ravindranath Kancherla, CMD, Global Hospitals Group, said, "The new hospitals in Mumbai, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar will be ready by next April. We have already raised funds for the same and construction work is in progress." Commenting on the Chennai Global Hospital he said that it is the largest facility of the group with a bed capacity of 600 beds and has capacity to add 400 additional beds.
According to group, the Chennai and Bangalore hospitals of the group have received National Accreditation Board for Hospital and Healthcare Providers (NABH) and National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accreditations. The NABH team has recently inspected the Hyderabad facility of the group. It claimed that it is the sole hospital in the country that is doing liver transplantation on regular basis. The Hyderabad facility has already conducted more than 100 liver transplantations. It is also engaged in heart transplantation. It is also planning to do transplantation of lungs and other organs. Sources added that the Bangalore facility of the group is doing stem cell therapy for brains.
