Rishika Sunkara made it to the second round of the Australian Open junior girls singles beating Japanese qualifier Miyu Kato 6-4, 6-2 in Melbourne on Sunday.
Sunkara, 16, is now up against a very strong contender, the third seeded Russian Daria Gavrilova on Tuesday while in doubles, she will be seen in action with Japanese Yuki Ito on Monday. Munshaw is partnering Chinese Chuhan Wang in boys doubles. "I was pretty confident because I had seen her (Kato) play during the qualifiers. Both of us were equally capable," Rishika was quoted as saying by her mother, Sucheta Sunkara.
