HYDERABAD: Noted Telugu poet and writer Nagabhairava Koteswara Rao died of cancer at his residence in Sringar Colony here on Saturday.
He was 77. He was born in 1931 in Ravinutala in Prakasam district. Rao is survived by a son and three daughters. Rao who has 20 works to his credit began writing poetry in kavya form.
He also used free verse in several works. He wrote plays and novels.He was dialogue writer for NTR starrer Brahmarshi Viswamitra.
Rao was Telugu expert for Sahitya Akademi from 1988-1992. He received Telugu University Award and Raja Lakshmi Foundation Award.
In a statement, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu mourned Rao’s death and expressed his heartfelt sympathy to his family members. He recalled Rao’s contribution to Telugu literature, mentioning Rangajamma and Gundlakamma Cheppina Kathalu.
