08 June: A Clovis West High School student recently won a second-place award at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Atlanta.
Nilesh Tripuraneni, a Clovis West junior, finished second out of about 180 projects in the physics and astronomy category, the Fresno County Office of Education announced.
He won $1,500 for his project, which investigated the properties of extremely small water molecules.
He also received a tuition scholarship to Drexel University worth $120,000 and a second place award from the U.S. Air Force for $1,500 during the competition's award presentation last month.
