Prasad Panda elected to Calgary Assembly for the second time, hopes cabinet bearth

Panda was first elected in a by-election in 2015. A professional engineer by trade with decades of experience working in Oil and Gas around the world, Prasad served as the UCP’s Energy Critic. Prasad chose to move his family to Alberta because of the tremendous opportunities in this province, from high-paying jobs and world class education, to low taxes and a government that exhibited fiscal restraint.  He was an early supporter of the Wildrose party and ran as a Wildrose candidate three times.  His by-election win gave Wildrose its first seat in one of Alberta’s major cities. Prasad holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering and is a member of APEGA. Prasad and his family live in Edgemont. University of Vermont names Suresh Garimella as next president

The University of Vermont’s Board of Trustees has appointed Suresh Garimella as the university’s 27th president. Garimella, currently executive vice president for Research and Partnerships and the Goodson Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University, will begin his new role effective July 1. As Purdue’s executive vice president, Garimella oversees Discovery Park, “a unique set of facilities and institutes, where disciplines converge to solve global challenges related to health and life sciences, sustainability, food, energy and defense and security,” according to a university press release. He is responsible for Purdue’s international programs and its global and corporate partnership endeavors, focused on strengthening relationships to advance innovation, research, and education. Dhruv Nandamudi among 34 Americans selected as 2019 Gates Cambridge Scholars at the University of Cambridge

The prestigious postgraduate scholarship program fully funds postgraduate study and research in any subject at the University of Cambridge. It was established through a $210 million donation to the University of Cambridge from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000 ; this remains the largest single donation to a university in the United Kingdom. In addition to outstanding academic achievement the program places emphasis on social leadership in its selection process as its mission is to create a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others. The U.S. scholars-elect will join about 60 scholars from other parts of the world, who will be announced in early April after interviews in late March. Ananth Technologies to set up private spacecraft centre soon in Bengaluru

The new facility will start functioning at Devanahalli in a few months Bengaluru, home to the country’s space headquarters, looks set to also host the country's first spacecraft production facility in the private sector. The new facility, designed for building 2,000-kg communication and Internet broadband spacecraft, is slated to start functioning in a few months at Devanahalli here. “Our satellite and systems unit is getting ready at Bengaluru and we plan to formally inaugurate it in the second quarter [fiscal] of 2019, that is during the June-September period,” said Anurup Pavuluri , Director of Ananth Technologies Ltd. The Hyderabad-based family-run company Ananth Technologies has put up the satellite centre at an estimated cost of ₹150-200 crore. The facility is being built on 3.5 acres of land at Bengaluru's aerospace park north of the city.
