VINAY Ramineni is the second in his family to be accepted directly into medicine at the University of Queensland.
The Indooroopilly resident received an offer from the university following an Overall Position of No-1 and an excellent result on the Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT) that placed him in the 97th percentile.
The University of Queensland later awarded Vinay with a UQ Excellence scholarship worth $6000, in recognition of his outstanding achievement.
Vinay, who managed to complete his grade six piano exam while studying, said he had been preparing for the UMAT exam for more than a year.
He dedicated more than two hours a week to the program on top of his regular academic demands.
The Brisbane Grammar School graduate has received a number of accolades in the past, including high distinctions in the Australian National Chemistry and English quizzes.
