HYDERABAD: He is in the process of completing another jewel in terms of sports infrastructure. Come April, another jewel will be in place in Gachibowli sports infrastructure line-up. As plans stand Pullela Gopi Chand Badminton Academy, to be identified by the Asian Badminton Confederation as one of it’s Centres of Excellence in Asia (incidentally this will only be the fourth such centre after China, Malaysia and Indonesia in Asia) will be functional during the biggest-ever badminton tournament in the country – the Indian Grand Prix (April 1 to 8) in the city. This imposing indoor stadium with room for eight ultra-modern courts should easily take care of about 60 trainees at a given time.“For sure, I want to see this as the best in Asia,” asserts Gopi. “ Already, enquiries are coming from Canada, New Zealand,” he stresses. By all means, this Academy should be another feather in the champion’s cap.
