Nuziveedu Seeds conferred 'BioAgri Company of the Year 2012' Award

Nuziveedu Seeds Limited ( Mandava Prabhakara Rao, CMD ) the leading Indian Seeds company (in terms of volume and seed packets sold every year), has been conferred with BioAgri Company of the year Award 2012 at the 10th Annual Biospectrum-ABLE Awards. Mr. Ramesh Viswanathan, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Nuziveedu Seeds received the award on behalf of the Company at a glittering ceremony held in Bengaluru. This is the fourth time Nuziveedu Seeds has won this prestigious award and consecutively won it for the third time. Previously, the Company won this award in 2008, 2010 and 2011.  Ramamohana Rao Tummala led a team that invented the first plasma display  He left his village nearly five decades ago to study and then work in the U.S. Today, Rammohana Rao Tummala is highly respected as a scientist and inventor. He holds 71 U.S. patents and credit for inventions. He has invented and manufactured the first ever plasma display for the IBM.  Six months in a year he travels extensively as adviser to several academic, research bodies and consultant to many Fortune 500 electronic companies in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. In spite of his hectic life, Prof. Rao R. Tummala always makes time to visit his native village, Nandamuru, on the Vijayawada-Gudivada Road. Celkon Mobiles to co-present India-Pak cricket series

Hyderabad, Dec 13: Celkon Mobiles has bagged the rights to be a co-presenter of the upcoming India-Pakistan Cricket series. This is part of the Rs 40-crore promotional campaign the company is launching next week.    It has tied up with cricketer Virat Kohli and South Indian film actress Tamanna Bhatia for the ad campaign. Leading Telugu film director Trivikram Srinivas made the promos for the cellular handset company in Hindi and regional languages.  The home-grown mobile player, which registered a turnover of Rs 320 crore last year, plans to cross the Rs 800-crore mark in 2013-14, largely backed by the nationwide campaign it is planning. It sells 5.5 lakh phones and tablets a month.  “About 10 per cent of them are smartphones. Next year, we plan to sell 10 lakh phones and tablets a month, with the contribution from smart phones and tablets increasing to 20 per cent,” Y. AEBA honours Dr Gullapalli Nageswara Rao for 'pioneering contributions to eye banking in Asia'

The Association of Eye Bank of Asia (AEBA), an umbrella organisation for all major eye banks and eye banking organisations from the Asian countries, presented its inaugural award for “pioneering contributions to eye banking in Asia” to Dr Gullapalli N Rao , founder-chair of L V Prasad Eye Institute. The award was presented at the 3rd Asia Cornea Society Biennial Scientific Meeting held in Manila, Phillipines, from November 27 to 29, 2012. Dr Rao developed the first international standard eye bank in Asia at L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) in Hyderabad in 1989 and it has since grown into a major global resource centre and Centre of Excellence in eye banking over the years. It is a SightLife Centre of Excellence in Eye Banking. Donavalli Harika storms into semifinal of World Women Chess Championship

KHANTY MANSIYSK (Russia): Grandmaster Donavalli  Harika came up with a spectacular performance in the tiebreak games to beat Zhao Xue of China and enter the last four stage of the World Women Chess Championship . The Indian set the records right after a real scare in the second game on yesterday and displayed top form to win the first rapid game and then drawing the second easily as white. The victory means Harika will not only remain in the championship but will also have a fair chance of having a shy at the title with just two matches to go in the premier women event. In the next round now, Harika will meet Antoaneta Stefanova of Bulgaria who was world champion in 2004. Chinese Ju Wenjun defeated compatriot Hunag Qian, while Stefanova accounted for Marie Sebag of France in the other tiebreak matches. Nutakki Priyanka is world chess champ

Nutakki Priyanka is the latest world beater from the AP chess stable. She won the world girls under-10 championship at Moribor, Slovenia on Sunday. Priyanka drew her 10th round game with Wang Annie of US in 38 moves to seal the title. The fifth standard student of Mustabada Sports and Educational Academy is the second girl from Krishna district to win the world under-10 girls title after Koneru Humpy, who won in 1997. Priyanka is trained by noted coach V.R. Bobba. Grandmaster Hari Krishna is another student of Bobba won the under-10 world boys championship in 1996. “We enrolled her in chess as a pastime during summer vacations after her second Class exams, but were surprised to see her win a district level event. We then joined her at Mr Bobba’s academy,” Priyanka’s mother Durga said. She staked claim in world chess circles in June this year when she won six gold medals — in the rapid, blitz and standard categories in the individual and team enents.
