Senior Income Tax officer Kosaraju Veeraiah Chowdary was today appointed member of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in the Finance Ministry. K. V. Chowdary is an officer of the Indian Revenue Service. With a Masters degree in Mathematics from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, he joined the IRS in 1978 through the Civil Services Examination, he was till now serving as the Director General (Investigations) in the national capital and was heading a number of high-profile I-T probes including the 2G spectrum allocation case and the HSBC Geneva taxpayers list. With his appointment, the CBDT will function with full strength. It had a few vacancies for some time. For six years from 1999, Lingamaneni Maruti Sankar , with a B.E. and an MBA from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, was working at VisualSoft (sold to Megasoft later) in the product delivery and development team.
