CHENNAI: Hyderabad-based BSCPL Infrastructure has announced the launch of its first residential project off Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR). Coming at a time when the real estate market is not exactly exuberant, the company said it has completed the structure for six lakh sq ft. The project named " Bollineni Hillside " is to come up on 92 acres. Touted as one of the largest integrated residential township projects in the city. the Rs 2,000 crore project offers flats ranging from 650 sq ft to 2800 sq ft including independent houses, row houses and villas. BSCPL Infrastructure chairman Bollineni Krishnaiah said the project would be completed in two phases with a total space of about 6 million sq ft after completion. It is proposed to build 4,500 dwelling units. Dubai: Ras Al Khaimah Minerals & Metals Investments (RMMI) will begin supplying coal from Indonesia to power the UAE's first fully coal-fired power plant in Ras Al Khaimah in two years. This should help to solve a potential power shortage in the northern emirates - where hundreds of new towers would host thousands of families in new neighbourhoods. RMMI is involved in three major mining projects in Indonesia, Armenia and Congo with investments totalling $1 billion (Dh3.67 billion). The projects will help the emirate to secure long-term energy supplies in the coming years, while the excess capacities will help other emirates. FLINT, Michigan -- Lakshmi Kanta Tummala of Flint has been named president of the Michigan State Medical Society Alliance. The 1,200-member organization focuses on public health issues and supports activities of the state medical society. Tummala, wife of Flint-area internist and pediatrician Jawahar Tummala , has been an active member of the Genesee County Medical Society Alliance for the past 15 years and has served as its president. She's been involved in numerous community outreach efforts, including the Healing Hands 5K Run and Walk, immunization programs, S.A.V.E. Day and the Needlework Guild. She is a contributing editor to the Genesee County Medical Society's publication, "The Bulletin."Tummala plans to lead the alliance's efforts this year on the issues of alcohol and drug abuse in children, childhood obesity and women's heart disease.

Nilesh Tripuraneni , a senior at Clovis West High School, is one of 40 finalists in a competition featuring the country’s most promising high school scientists. Nilesh figured he hadn’t been selected after science-whiz buddies in other parts of the country contacted him Tuesday night and said they were finalists. But plans had been in the works all week to surprise him at school. Officials from Intel Corp. showed up at the calculus class where Nilesh is a teacher’s assistant. They announced he had won a $5,000 scholarship and was a finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search. “It’s pretty cool. It’s a pretty prestigious competition,” said Nilesh, 18. Washington, Jan 14: The Washington Post Tuesday named two managing editors, one of them a person of Indian origin and the other the first woman to hold that title in the paper's history to speed up the merger of the company's print and online newsrooms. Raju Narisetti, (Kamma guy from Ponnuru, Guntur dist- AP) a former deputy managing editor of the Wall Street Journal, will oversee the paper's style and other feature sections. He becomes the second person of Indian origin to take up a leadership position in a major US daily. Narisetti, 42, launched a national business newspaper in India in 2007. The Indian-American worked with Brauchli in several roles at the Journal, the newspaper where Brauchli was the top editor until owner Rupert Murdoch helped pressure him into leaving last spring.
