Dr Gurram Ramprakash from Vijayawada city secured All-India first rank in Surgical Gastroenterology in JIPMER Super Specialty Entrance Test.
After completing MBBS from Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Medical College, he did his MS from Andhra Medical College in Visakhapatnam where he bagged a gold medal and also the best student of the University award.
“I come from a rural background and I have grown up seeing the vast gap in accessibility to medical services to the different sections of the society. My effort will be towards filling this gap,” said Dr. Ram Prakash, at a press conference here on Sunday.
“My father is a farmer and mother a teacher. I am a son of this soil and intend to come back to serve the local people. The focus would be on extending medical care to the common man in the best possible way,” he said.
He said he could achieve the top rank with the encouragement given by Dr. N. Tirumala Rao of city-based Harini Hospital, where Mr. Ram Prakash works as a general surgeon.
Dr. Tirumala Rao said the young doctor’s winning-spree started with securing 1000th rank in EAMCET. He then secured top ranks in a series of PG CET (Common entrance test) in medicine. “Dr. Ram Prakash is the third youngest person in JIPMER’s (Super-speciality) history to secure this rank among 2,600 candidates who took the test,” he said.
