Sports Star Guru Pullela GopiChand

Pullela Gopichand (born November 16, 1973) is a former Indian badminton player. He won the All England Open Badminton Championships in 2001 becoming the second Indian to achieve this feat after Prakash Padukone. Now, he runs the Gopichand Badminton Academy. Pullela Gopichand was born on November 16, 1973 to Pullela Subash Chandra and Subbaravamma at Nagandla, Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh . Initially, he was interested in playing cricket, but his elder brother encouraged him to take up badminton instead. He joined A. V. College, Hyderabad and graduated in public administration. He was the captain of the Indian combined universities badminton team in 1990 and 1991. Gopichand was coached by S. M. Arif before Prakash Padukone accepted him at Prakash Padukone academy. Dr. Katragadda Paddayya , Emeritus Professor of Archaeology and former Director of Deccan College (Deemed University) in Pune, is widely known for his innovative contributions to Indian archaeology spanning four decades and a half. His prolonged field investigations in the Shorapur Doab of North Karnataka, including major excavations at Hunsgi, Yediyapur, Isampur and Budihal, have enabled reconstruction of both Palaeolithic and Neolithic cultures from a settlement system perspective. Professor Paddayya’s contributions to archaeological theory and method are also widely acclaimed. His major publications include Investigations into the Neolithic Culture of the Shorapur Doab, South India (1973), The Acheulian Culture of the Hunsgi Valley, Peninsular India – A Settlement System Perspective (1982) and New Archaeology and Aftermath: A View from Outside the Anglo-American World (1990). Sruti Chigurupati receives the US President's Volunteer Service Award

Sophomore at Orange High School earns award for her volunteerism In just five months, Sruti Chigurupati spent 100 hours of her free time volunteering. The Olentangy Orange High School sophomore began donating her time in January to LifeCare Alliance near downtown Columbus. She was following in her older brother's footsteps by joining the organization that's best known for its Meals on Wheels program. After about 40 hours of volunteering, she learned about the President's Volunteer Service Award, which recognizes students who have spent a significant amount of time working for a good cause. So she began tracking the weekend and spring-break hours she spent in the LifeCare Alliance kitchen, bagging and boxing Meals on Wheels entrees, and by May, she had reached more than 100 hours, which made her eligible for the award. LEPL Promoted Air Costa, First Regional Airplane Service to begin Operations from October 14

Air Costa (Lingamaneni Ramesh, Chairman & CEO) is the first region airplane service based at Vijayawada.  Air Costa will begin its operations from October 14.  In the first phase, services will run to Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Jaipur and Ahmadabad.  Later these will be expanded to other cities also. Vijayawada : LEPL group based at Vijayawada is promoting Air Costa, the first regional  airline service . LEPL chairman L Ramesh spoke to the media and said that in the  coming  five years, Air Costa will run 25  air services .   Air Costa will begin its services from October 14.  In the first phase, air services will be launched for Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Jaipur and Ahmadabad.  Later the services will be expanded to Mysore, Pune, Trivandrum, Madurai, Goa, and Visakhapatnam also . Koneru Humpy wins FIDE Women’s Grand Prix chess title

Koneru  Humpy settled for a 67-move draw with black pieces against Russia’s Girya Olga to win the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix chess title at Tashkent on Monday. Humpy tallied eight points from 11 rounds to top the 12-player field. With D. Harika (6.5), placed second after the penultimate round, crashing to a 38-move loss to second-eeded Chinese Zhao Xue, the victorious duo of Bela Khotenashivili and Kateryna Lagno shared the second spot with seven points. Another Kamma girl Donavalli Harika (6.5) stood in 5th place.
