Chicago, IL: It was a clean sweep in every aspect for Lakshmi Tatineni . The Plainfield East senior won all seven of her matches at the Joliet Central Birds of Steel Tournament on Saturday to capture the No. 1 Singles crown for the third consecutive year.   Tatineni, considered one of the top players in the state, also won the JV tournament as a freshman. “It was really nerve-racking this morning because I won it so many times,” Tatineni said. “But after the first game, I started getting back into it, calming down.”   Tatineni won all of her matches in two sets and topped Metea Valley’s Michelle Wang (6-1 on the day) 22-20, 21-19 in a back-and-forth unofficial championship match that coincidentally found itself as the pair’s last match of the day.   “She was really good, but I was kind of stubborn,” Tatineni said. “I just kept saying, ‘finish this, no third game’, because I’m exhausted.”

Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana: New acting chief justice for Andhra Pradesh high court

Known as a person who took the initiative to take the judiciary closer to the people through his initiatives like encouraging use of Telugu and technology in the state's justice dispensation system, Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana of the AP high court will start functioning as acting chief justice of the high court from Monday. The centre notified that his appointment would come into force from Sunday itself. Justice Ramana was born on August 27, 1957 at Ponnavaram village in Krishna district and obtained his degree in law from Nagarjuna University in 1982. He has displayed a keen interest in implementing Telugu in the justice administration system.

Sr NTR, Sridevi selected as greatest Indian Actors of all time

Proud to be a Kamma Late Telugu actor and former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) has been named the greatest Indian actor of all time, while Sridevi was voted the best actress, in a CNN-IBN Poll survey conducted in celebration of 100 years of Indian cinema.   NTR garnered 53 percent of total votes, while actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan amassed 44 percent of rest of the votes. Southern actors Rajkumar and Mohanlal shared one percent votes each, and the rest of the actors got less than a percent of votes. Bollywood diva Sridevi, who recently made a comeback with "English Vinglish", garnered 39 percent votes to be adjudged the best actress, while Madhuri Dixit and Savithri finished second and third respectively with 16 and 12 percent votes.
