Thippareddy and Munirathna Naidu wins Karnataka Assembly elections

Gundarapu H Thippareddy of BJP wins the Chitradurga Constituency in Assembly Elections, Chitradurga District of Karnataka. G H Thippareddy wins by a margin of 26718 compared to his/her immediate rival Basavarajan of JD(S) Munirathna Naidu of INC wins the Rajarajeshwari Nagar Constituency in Assembly Elections, BBMP (central) District of Karnataka. Munirathna wins by a margin of 18813 compared to his/her immediate rival K L R Thimmananjaiah of JD(S).

Saketh Myneni wins fifth ITF title

Saketh Myneni quelled the challenge from local lad Vijayant Malik 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the final of the Raheja $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament on Saturday. It was the fifth title in the Futures circuit for Myneni, and he said that he was looking forward to improving his game and play the Challengers soon. Malik, a product of the rural scheme and looking for his second title at this level, tried hard to stay in the rallies with the support of the vociferous local youngsters. However, he could not keep pace as Myneni was clearly two notches above him with his energetic all-round game. Srikar Gullapalli Named Watson Fellow

Three Indian American student s— Shilpa Darivemula of Union College in Schenectady, New York; Srikar Gullapalli of Colgate University, Hamilton, New York ; and Nitya Rao of Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina — were named last month as Watson Fellow s, each of whom will receive a stipend of $25,000 for the fellowship year.  Through “Government for the People: Local Accountability Structures and Political Dialogue,” Gullapalli wishes to understand local political accountability structures and local citizen-government relationships at the city and community level in drastically different governance contexts since the local level is most important for public welfare and where most corruption and inefficiency occurs.   

Legend NTR statue Installed in parliament Premises

After a long wait of 15 years, finally legend Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao 's statue got installed in the premises of parliament today. Finally 'Anna' garu stood tall in the gallery of parliament highlighting the pride of all Telugus. It is the dream of all Telugu people in the state to witness this scene and guess who the Chief Guest for the inauguration of statue is. None other than Loksabha speaker Meera Kumar unveiled the statue of NTR at 10.30am today, while Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is the chief guest. Big political heads of the country including Chandrababu Naidu, LK Advani, Mulayam Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Murali Manohar Joshi, Arun Jaitley and Seetharam Echuri are present. Congress cabinet ministers including Megastar Chiru, Sushil  Shinde, Ghulam Azad, Kapil Sibal and others graced the event. Many TeluguDesam MPs and Congress MPs too made it to the event, showcasing their 'Telugu' side irrespective of the political party they belong too. And coming to Nan
